Diverse Learners Speech Therapy Services is looking for a Speech-Language Pathologist and an Occupational Therapist to service a growing, neurodiverse caseload of children with Language and Literacy needs. Services will be a mix of in-home and virtual.

 

The ideal candidate will:

  • Live in the Peel or York Region and feel comfortable travelling within these areas.

  • Have experience or interest servicing school-age children and nonspeaking children.

  • Share our passion for neurodiversity-affirming Speech Language Pathology and Occupational Therapy services.

  • Have experience and passion for supporting autistic and ADHD children, with a strong desire for delivering child-led services.

  • Possess skills and/or a strong desire to learn about providing structured literacy intervention to school-age children with diverse learning needs and abilities (SLPs).

  • Possess skills to support children with Sensory Processing Disorder (OTs)

  • Desire the independence and flexibility of working from home (virtual services and charting) and travelling to client homes near you to deliver in-home services (access to own car is essential).

Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate children using both informal and formal measures in the following areas: School Age Language and Literacy, Gestalt Language Processing and AAC.

  • Provide therapy, consultation and counselling to families and children presenting with language differences/disorders, literacy delays (dyslexia, Learning Disorders) and AAC.

  • Be able to manage own client scheduling following initial assessment.

  • Be able to refer patients to other professionals or medical practitioners when necessary.

  • Collaborate with school teams for the purpose of informing IEP goals and recommendations when necessary. Collaborate with Occupational Therapists working concurrently with clients when necessary.
